Lori Holt a designer and creator of Bee in My Bonnet. She is a small town farm girl who spent her childhood playing in the sunshine on tractors and climbing trees. She grew up happily immersed in all things domestic. She is the middle child of a large family and lives closely surrounded by grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. Her mom says that she was practically born with a needle in her hand. Lori's earliest memories are of sitting underneath the quilting frames and threading needles for her grandma and great aunts until she eventually grew old enough to make stitches of her own. As a girl, Lori spent many happy hours designing and sewing clothes for her dolls, crocheting and doing embroidery. Her deep love of all needle art comes from the early influence of her mother and grandmothers, who were her first teachers. Now she teaches others to create and she finds joy in using her creativity to make beautiful things. Drawing inspiration for her designs from the beauty of the earth and from the love of God and family memories. Lori is drawn to stacks of colorful fabrics, pretty papers, aprons, buttons, embroidery, old dishes, gingham and polka dots, sprinkles and glitter and all things vintage. She married her best friend and childhood sweetheart and together they have 3 creative, intelligent children, and a new baby granddaughter. Life is good! Lori sews, draws, creates, decorates and re-decorates on a daily basis. She thinks of herself as the luckiest girl in the world, because she gets to do what she loves everyday. Lori feels blessed to have her own company called, “Bee in my Bonnet,” which she began in 1994. Her wish is that her designs in both patterns and fabric, will inspire others to create and will also instill the desire to pass down the valuable lessons of days gone by taught to us by our mothers and grandmothers.
