Katherine Lenius

Katherine Lenius is an illustrator and surface pattern designer living outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up drawing on just about any surface she could find.  She loves to create joyful art for the everyday. She envisions warm, approachable designs that are also fresh and modern. Her illustrations and designs are homegrown and have roots in the past but with a contemporary sensibility. Her dream is that her designs and illustrations can  find their place on a number of surfaces. She is often inspired by what’s in her own backyard: nature, gardens, everyday objects, vintage textiles, children’s picture books, and her own three children. Her work is a combination of traditional media (pencil, ink, & watercolor) and digital. She especially enjoys designing for fabric, stationery, greeting cards, wall art, home décor, and children’s art. Katherine designs fabric for Riley Blake Designs.
