Heather Briggs is the fabric and quilt pattern designer behind My Sew Quilty Life. She stumbled upon quilting in Fall 2017. She says: "When I was a newborn photographer, I kept seeing other photographers using old quilts in their newborn photos and I, being the maker I am, decided I would make a quilt to use in my photos. My thought was to make the quilt, drag it through the mud, scuff it up, and make it look as antiqued as possible. I decided I would make the Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt and then “distress” it. After spending what felt like over 100,000 hours making all the 1.5” hexies and then hand sewing them together I felt silly for considering trying to distress all my hard work. It was at that moment that I learned to respect quilting and ultimately fell in love with the craft. It took three years to finish my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt, and I am happy I have that treasure to pass down.
After falling in love with quilting during the pandemic in 2020, I decided to start My Sew Quilty Life after a desire to leave my demanding full-time job as an Architectural Designer. I used my design background to develop my pattern design business and my recognizable brand, My Sew Quilty Life. I have designed and published over 100 quilt patterns under the My Sew Quilty Life brand. My designs have been featured in several quilting magazines. Most recently, I became a fabric designer with Moda Fabrics. "
Heather and Mr. My Sew Quilty Life (Zach) live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the beautiful state of South Carolina with their son, Seth and their goldendoodle.
